A Taste Of Love

Farrell, PA, 1973-1977

Performing in Akron, September 1975

The principal members of A Taste Of Love, Alvin "Tiki" Hueston and Timothy "Sirjio" Thomas, were barely teenagers when they started performing in local talent shows. By the time they were high school students, they had their own group. To round out the sound, they added Derrek "Paco" Grey and Keith "Cap" Capitol.

From a suggestion by Alvin's mother, who said they "Look just like a taste of love", they became the soul vocal group, A Taste Of Love. The group performed locally, and later, got some gigs and a fan base in Akron. According to a 2012 newspaper story from Sharon, PA, the source of most of our info, the group covered songs by the Temptations, O'Jays. Delfonics, and the Whispers.

The group recorded one 45 in 1975, recorded at Peppermint. They sang a couple ballad sides, both written by Alvin and Timothy. The 45 was issued in the Peppermint master sequence using their own custom label. The group was backed by the New Fire Band, about which we know nothing. The record omits the leading "A" from their name.

Alvin graduated from Farrell HS in 1976. After the group disbanded, Sirjio Thomas remined an active performer in the Farrell/Sharon area for 40 years.
