Bates Boys + One

Columbus, 1967

Based on the band's name they would appear to be brothers with one non-brother. This band , whoever they are, as we don't have much info, includes organ, sax, and trumpet. They made a 45 on the Magnetic  studio custom  label, Magna.

The vocal features a pop harmony vocals over a groove that is somewhere between boogaloo and variety show dance. The instrumental has a tougher boogaloo/funk sound. They sound like they would have made a good Ohio State Fair support band. The writer credits are J. Bates and A. Bates
