Jimmy Contenta

East Livepool or western PA, early-mid 1960s

Based on the sounds of his records, Jimmy Contenta was a lounge/club singer who, in order to keep up with the times, added a little rock-n-roll influence to his sound. He was listed as performing at Sandy's in East Liverpool with the Jay Trio, so we assume he was from there, although an online source says he was born in Freedom, PA.

His first 45 was probably recorded in Cleveland on a one off label that was related to Patrice/Pattie. The song "Picture Album Blues" was rerecorded and released on the Pittsburgh based Varbee label.
