Outlaws

Toledo, 1962-6

The Outlaws were a duo of piano and drums. You might expect them to sound like the Ramsey Lewis Trio, but they were a rock-n-roll band.  Larry Sipperly seems to have been a band member, probably the pianist.

They recorded three 45s on their own and backed up two vocal groups, the Splendors and the Uniques. It's pretty safe to say that they are the only band in the US with that lineup to record Chuck Berry and Beatles songs.

The first 45 mentions that it was recorded live at the Bull Fiddle, which was a long standing bar (Benny's Bull Fiddle) in Toledo on Sylvania Ave.
