the Poor Boys

Painesville, 1966-8

A little known group from Painesville. At some point they came to the attention of Choir manager Ray Taylor. They were brought to Audio Recording in Cleveland and recorded an excellent single that never made it past the acetate stage. The topside, "I Can’t See You Now", lifted the lyrics from the West Coast Pop Art Experimental Band’s "1906" and applied them to a swingin’ teen garage backing. The flip was a midtempo original, "My Little Girl". Both are fueled by hyperactive bass and drumming.
