Robin

Canfield, 1970

Robin is Robin Ulicny, a teenager from Canfield.

In 1969-70 she wrote and recorded 11 original songs. She recorded at Marjon, with her voice and guitar as the only sounds on the tracks. The record was self distributed. Her father, Sy Ulicny, is credited on the back. The label name is Karisma, a one-off.

The LPs brief liner notes credit a church pastor from Struthers as inspiration. Robin came from a Christian background but the songs are not overtly religious in message. There are a couple mentions of her in the local papers playing church functions.

The LP was the only record she made. The music has never been reissued, legitimately or not.

Most online sources give a 1969 date, probably because that year is mentioned in the liner notes. The copyrights for the songs were completed in 1970, which is probably the correct year for release.
