Sugar N' Spice

Cleveland, 1965-7

October 1968

Sugar N' Spice (or Sugar and Spice)  were a male/female duet from Cleveland. The two singers were Carolyn (or Caroline) Peoples and Melvin Kennebrew. They were 22 and 24 years old at the time.

The pair recorded a 45 for the Lira label. The label was run by a collective of several men and used Cleveland Recording for their base of operations. The songs were written by Vernon Jones, a music teacher at East High School. Carolyn was an East High graduate.

According to a short writeup on Carolyn from 1968, the group had travelled across the country and had played Cleveland nighclubs for a few years. There's not much else we know about the two.
