the Blues Invention

Hamilton, 1968

Another band from the Hamilton area, according to Shad O'Shea. They recorded a 45 at Allen-Martin in Louisville, KY like most of the other early Counterpart artists. The record came out on Counterpart's Great Scott subsidiary label. Both sides are nice 60s polished garage with introspective teen lyrics.

The songwriter's name is Paul Gardner, but other than being from Hamilton, we don't know any more. The Counterpart label files, which are now gone, didn't have much else for information.

It's likely this was another Counterpart stealth release, done without the band's knowledge, and using a different band name.
