Jerry Channing


Cleveland, mid 1960s

Jerry Channing was the performing name used by Jerry Veneskey. Jerry lived on Cleveland's west side.

He recorded two 45s for MGM records, featuring a teen-pop sound. The records were recorded in Nashville and used local session musicians. Neither record made the national charts but the first 45 "Little Girl In A Magazine" got airplay on a number of stations. Jerry wrote that side with Bob Turek, a member of the Five Gents who also wrote a couple songs recorded by the Outsiders. 

We're not able to find any info about the Japanese release mentioned in the article, if anyone knows more, please tell us.

He spent many years away from music, but in the 2010s, he returned to writing and performing using the name Jerry Allen or the Jerry Allen Band, still in NE Ohio. He is still active as of 2021.
