the Jewels

Cincinnati, early 1960s

The Jewels were a girl group who recorded a 45 for Olimpic records. We don't know much about them. They were from Cincinnati and recorded the 45 after Olimpic had relocted there. The group's songs were written by William "Prez" Tyus. who is most famoud for writing the Students' classic "I'm So Young" (he was not a member of these groups, but a songwriter). The backing band is listed as Johnny and the Sparks. Interesting that Tyus and the Sparks were only involved with this one Olimpic record.
