the Patriots

Oxford, 1968-71?

pic

The Patriots were mustered at Talawanda High School and Stewart Jr. High School in Oxford. The band was a popular school, Miami U campus and regional band. According the label of their 1st 45, the band members were Bill Amiot, Bob Amiot, Dave Freshwater, Dale Bunten, and Dale Gross. They were a young band in the beginning, ages 13-15, with Mike Freshwater, Dave's older brother, acting as their manager.

We have two 45s by the band. The first one was recorded and released out of Jewel in Cincinnati, they are in a Byrds/CSNY style. A second 45 on the Oxford label features some influence from the SW Ohio funk and soul sound, with horns.
