Paul Griffin

Toledo, late 1960s

Paul Griffin was a soul singer from Toledo. We know very little about him.

He recorded a 45 in Detroit, written, produced, and arranged by Howard Collins of Chanson records. Melvin Harrison was also involved, at least in the songwriting. The 45 was released by Reo record in Canada, but not in the US. Reo records was a nationally distributed label in Canada but this record is pretty rare, probably because he was from the US and not given any promotion. The A side is a good soul/funk record that fits in with Chanson label releases.

The record was mentioned in the May 24 1969 issue of Cashbox along with another Howard Collins/Chanson production by the Mark III.
