Ron and the Motions

Cincinnati, 1964-1967

pic

There is almost nothing known about this band, other than they were from Cincinnati. Just a couple ads in the Cincy papers for them playing live.

The band recorded two 45s, the first one on Red Bug. The A side was written by Herbie Allen, probably a group member, but there is nothing much to be found on anyone with that name. From the group's name, they would seem like an early 1960s teen group, and that's how the record sounds, although the vocal is solo, not group.

Their second record was recorded in 1967. The sound has a teen garage sound, released on the one-off Counterpart subsidiary Kacky, and recorded at Allen-Martin in Louisville. The songs are credited to Howard Lovdal (Shad O'Shea) and Kenny Smith.
